RAPE VICTIM SERVICES

The Rape Victim Services Program of Cumberland River Comprehensive Care Center provides crisis and ongoing counseling to any victim of sexual assault. These services are available in each of the eleven offices. These services are provided by professional therapists who have received 40 hours of training on sexual assault issues over and above their degrees. Services offered are as follows:

Emergency Counseling - Crisis counseling at the hospital for victims of any age. To access services one may call any local Comprehensive Care clinic or call (606) 528-7010. After hours call collect at (606) 523-9386.

Legal Advocacy - Counselors are available to support victims through the legal process, with emotional preparation for trial, and when necessary, to accompany the victim to court. Appropriate referrals to other court advocates may be made.

Ongoing Counseling - Many victims of rape or sexual abuse find they can benefit from ongoing counseling. Types of ongoing treatment may include Individual Counseling, Counseling for Couples, Family Counseling, and Group Counseling.

Educational Programs - Educational programs are available for the public, civic groups, youth groups, agencies, schools, medical personnel, legal personnel, and others. These may be on the general topic of sexual abuse or specific topics related to sexual assault. For educational/prevention programs, call the Rape Victims Service Program Director at (606) 528-7010 and the appropriate referral will be made.
