MR/DD Mission Statement

and Support Programs

The mission of the MR/DD program is to provide supports that enable individuals with mental retardation/developmental disabilities and their families to participate in the community. We carry out our mission by:

Support Programs from the MR/DD division of CRCCC include:

Supported Community Living - Funding is available for a one-time expense or on-going supports for individuals with disabilities who live in Kentucky so that they my live in homes of their choice. Applications usually must be submitted by April 1st. Contact the Supported Living Coordinator at (606) 528-7010.

Individual Supports - Funding is available for individuals with disabilities to enhance their capabilities for independent functioning in a variety of domains, i.e., where the individual lives, works, and inclusion in community activities. Contact the Individual Support Coordinator at (606) 528-7010.

Crisis Response/Prevention - Funding is available for assessing, planning, and collaborating on behalf of individuals/families with mental retardation/developmental disabilities in order to stabilize and prevent or eliminate the recurrence of inappropriate behavior or crisis by enhancing more normalizing, age-appropriate supports and activities through person centered planning. Supported Employment - Through the person centered planning process, individuals over 18 years of age with mental retardation/developmental disabilities and their families are supported in their choice of competitive employment careers. Contact the Supported Employment Coordinator at (606) 528-7010.

Special Olympics - The agency annually fosters participation of individuals with mental retardation/developmental disabilities in a variety of sports related activities on a local, regional and nation level.
