First Steps / Early Intervention (CBIS)

What is First Steps?

First Steps is the Kentucky Early Intervention Systems (KEIS) that provide services to children from birth through age three(3) who may have developmental delay or a medical condition that is known to cause developmental delay. First Steps services are provided at no cost to the parent and include the services below:

Point of Entry (POE)

A single phone call to (606) 523-0229 or 1-800-509-9559 will gain access to a service coordinator who will begin the evaluation and assessment process to determine eligibility. This person will be available to answer questions, make home visits, set up assessment appointments, begin the Individual Family Service Plan, and present the options for the provision of services by various providers.

Provision of Services

Services for children available through First Steps and Early Intervention (CBIS) and/or from Cumberland River Comprehensive Care.
